What is 4-H Online?
It is a secured, web-based system (often called 4-H Online 2.0) used across the country to manage youth and volunteer records. Families create a "Family Profile" and then add individual profiles for each child.
Why is it Necessary?
Even if you have your own sign-up sheet, every child must be enrolled in 4-H Online for several critical reasons:
- Insurance & Liability: This is the most important reason. When a child is "Active" in 4-H Online, they are covered by 4-H accidental insurance during meetings.
- Medical & Emergency Info: The system stores digital health forms and emergency contact info that are compliant with privacy laws (PCI and HIPAA). If an accident happens, the official record is right there.
- Competition Eligibility: If your youth want to enter their muffins or project books into a state competition, those registrations are handle directly from 4-H Online. If they aren't in the system, they usually can't compete.
- Communication: It ensures families receive official newsletters, scholarship information, and state-wide event invites.
