South West Maritime History Society has designed a programme of illustrated talks to complement Exeter's Heritage Harbour celebrations on 9th JuneThe talks (which are free) will be held at the Haven Banks Centre, opposite the Basin. Seats are available on a first come first served basis. There will be time between talks for guests to come and go.
The first talk is about Brunel's radical experiment on the Exeter to Plymouth railway, when he used atmospheric steam power instead of mobile steam engines ... and it didn't end well! After lunch 3 talks explore the world of people living and working on the Exeter and Stover canals in the 18th and 19th centuries - see the discussion posts on the next tab for details of each talk.
