Education has been a cornerstone of Coweta County since its inception, with the founder's foresight in setting aside land for a school. This rich educational history is a testament to the county's commitment to learning.
On May 16 th , Emily Kimbell, an English teacher at Heritage School, and Steve Quesinberry, a retired Newnan High School history teacher, will present and describe the early passion for education in Coweta County. Kimbell will untangle the particulars of the Male Academy and the women’s college known as College-
Temple. Quesinberry will decipher the start of public schools in Newnan, especially the beginnings of Newnan High School, which is 136 years old this year.
