GROWING PAINS
Playwright Antonin Artaud once wrote: “I abandon myself to the fever of dreams, in search for new laws.” For Portland-based indie quartet Growing Pains, the dream world is where apathy ends, and euphoria begins. For six years, Growing Pains have mastered the art of surrendering to the dream, embracing it, and returning with songs to prove it. Since 2018, Growing Pains have been writing and performing blue-tinted indie rock, spritzed with emo, power pop, and shoegaze influences.
Formed in 2018 at an after-school music program, the members of Growing Pains communed over a collective adoration for Joyce Manor and Blink-182. They soon made rounds through the Portland DIY circuit, frequenting scene staples such as Blackwater and Fail House. After releasing their debut album Heaven Spots, the band temporarily relocated to Eugene, where they wrote their next project. Leaving their pop-punk influences at home, the group took influence from the frenzied side of indie rock—choosing to channel the phantasmic soundscapes of My Bloody Valentine and disarranged stimulantics of Broken Social Scene.
The fruition of this was the 2023 EP Thought I Heard Your Car, a 5 song meditation on past laments; l’esprit d’escalier in musical form. The release saw the band rocket through the PNW music scene, playing shows with indie luminaries Franz Ferdinand and Beabadoobee.
In the Summer of 2024, Growing Pains will be touring from Canada to the southwestern United States, before returning to the studio to record their second LP, expected to arrive in early 2025.
GRRLBAND
GrrlBand is a five-piece all-queer female rock outfit from Eugene, Oregon. Locally known as the Scream Queens of Eugene, we are passionate about the empowerment of women and queer people in a male-dominated music scene. Inspired by all the lady rockers who came before us, we’re a group of best friends who love music. We are dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive space where everyone can have a great time! BOWL PEACE
Meet Bowl Peace, Eugene Oregon’s own lovable misfits who’ve turned indie rock into a kaleidoscope of catchy riffs and good times. Formed in the heart of the Pacific Northwest, this crew is known for their eclectic sound, offbeat humor and undeniable camaraderie.
The band consists of four best friends; Elizabeth Bailey (Drums), Elise Benton (Vocals), Holden Hunt (Guitar), and Owen Akiyama (Bass), whose hobbies include writing hit singles like “Coconaut” and recording quality EPs like their recent “Smoking in Bed.”
Bowl Peace’s tunes blend indie dream pop and garage rock sounds with a generous sprinkling of goofiness and good times; a testament to their unbreakable bond and laid-back lifestyle. With a shared love for each other and their craft, Bowl Peace proves that when it comes to making music and living life, a little bit of fun goes a long way.
RAINFLY
Rainfly is a Shoegaze/folk band based in Eugene.
