Event Information:
The Mac & Cheese Smack Down will take place from 1-3pm. All contestants must be in place to serve their mac & cheese by 12:50pm latest. Please be aware that if you run out of Mac & Cheese, you run the risk losing votes! This is 100% people’s choice voting. We have 1st , 2nd and 3rd place CASH PRIZES for this event. The general public will be voting as follows:
1. They will receive a fork for tasting along with explanation of how the process of voting will work.
2. They will then visit each station where you will provide a sample in our tasting cups that will be provided.
3. Each station will have a NUMBER assigned – this number will correspond with numbered cups at the registration area.
4. To cast a vote, each person will be provided with one large macaroni piece to place in the cup of their choice. This will remain a surprise to the participants until the end.
The winners will be announced at approximately 3pm.
Important things to note:
1. Participants may arrive as early as 12:30pm but must be in place and ready to serve by 12:50pm. You will be assigned a station number when you arrive.
2. You will remain with your Mac & Cheese and serving for the duration of the event. We will conclude the voting portion at 2:30pm with awards announced at 3pm
3. Each contestant will receive one complimentary beer ticket to be used at any time during the event or immediately following. The tickets will not be good after 1/26/25.
4. Hoptown will provide table space, and electric outlet access for your slow cooker or disposable chafing dish set up (steam bath with sterno heat). We can not accommodate 3 prong plugs, only two prong.
5. We HIGHLY recommend the largest Crock Pot available to you. We have done 3 events now and once you run out of food – you are basically forfeiting your chance to win. You do not want to run out!
6. Party City has disposable sets as well as Amazon. Please remember: largest possible with a water bath base (the set should include the aluminum water bath tray, aluminum baking pan to set on top along with the wire frame and Sterno cans to keep your product warm. Please bring your own lighter if you are going to bake your Mac & Cheese.
7. Hoptown does not have enough available room to store back up product and keep it warm. If you bring back up, you will have to store it under your table space and switch out once you run out of your initial amount.
8. You will be provided sampling cups throughout the event to serve in – REMEMBER – you are offering a ‘taste!’ if you get too generous in the beginning – you will run out of food. We typically have over 100 guests at Hoptown sampling as well as our judges.
Hoptown will provide the voting “macaroni” for vote collection.
You may be photographed before and during the event for social media.
Participant responsibilities:
· Please bring a large spoon to serve small amounts of Mac & Cheese to guests in their disposable 4oz cups
· You are responsible for any additional toppings that you personally want tasters to use on top of your mac & cheese (e.g. additional cheese, toasted buttered bread crumbs, etc.)
· Signage if you want to name your creation, or include key ingredients
