Panel #1: Protecting Housing Access for Latino Families in Texas

Info: Texas is experiencing rapid population growth and escalating housing pressures, with state and local policies playing a critical role in shaping access to affordable, stable housing. For Latino communities, these policies have deep implications for household stability, economic mobility, and long-term wealth-building. As housing costs rise and development patterns shift, this panel will explore which policies - such as zoning regulations, tax incentives, and affordable housing initiatives - are shaping Latino access to housing and economic opportunity. Panelists will discuss current efforts, challenges, and innovations at the state and local level that are influencing housing equity for Latino communities across Texas.

🕑: 03:15 PM - 04:15 PM
Panel #2: Protecting Higher Education Access for Latino Students in Texas

Info: Recent efforts to repeal the 2001 Texas Dream Act and restrict in-state tuition for undocumented students signal a growing threat to educational access for Latino communities. As state-level policies increasingly reflect anti-immigrant sentiment, both undocumented and documented Latino students may face greater barriers to opportunity, surveillance, and discrimination. This panel will examine the implications of these policy shifts on higher education access and long-term socioeconomic mobility. Panelists will discuss the current legal and political landscape, as well as potential policy solutions to protect and expand educational opportunities for Latino students in Texas and beyond.
