About this Event
A conference focused on issues of concern to adjuncts at UMBC and beyond! We will focus on voices not always heard as we recenter the margins. Speakers range from UMBC's Faculty Development Center for a lunch & learn session, featuring your questions about teaching and learning plus a workshop on AI in the classroom, presentations from UMBC adjuncts on their research efforts, and a keynote from UMBC's new provost, Dr. Manfred HM van Dulmen.
About FDC's Session:
"Active learning, inclusive excellence, ungrading, closing the loop, the testing effect, classroom climate, deliberate practice, transparency, backward design, flipping the classroom, student-centered paradigm, AI literacy …
You’ve heard these terms (and sooo many others) in conversations, on websites, in publications, at conferences. You may have wondered—what are these practices and what can they do to improve learning? What do they look like in the classroom? What questions do you have about improving your teaching in the classroom?" If you'd like to send your questions beforehand, please email [email protected] or [email protected]
