The Hawthorne Environmental Commission and the Hawthorne Board of Education is sponsoring the 33rd Annual Cel-Earth-Bration on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at the Hawthorne High School cafeteria from 10 am to 2 pm. This year’s theme is “Water = Life”, importance of water for physical life, health, and our planet – water conservation and protection. Students of all grade levels are encouraged to participate by using their imaginations to make projects emphasizing is “Water = Life” theme. Projects include but not limited to, rain gardens, native plants, bird baths, watering plants and vegetables, water reservoirs, hydrologic water cycle, hydroponic gardening, hydro power, flooding, climate resiliency programs, water conservation and water protection, etc. For ideas on Hawthorne, you can view Hawthorne’s Environmental Resource Inventory on - http://www.hawthornenj.org/315/Environmental-Resource-Inventory and the borough’s website, http://www.hawthornenj.org.
Projects must arrive by 9:30 AM and be picked up at 2:30 pm and bring a completed registration form with the project the day of the event, if you did not register with your teacher. Awards for the best projects will be given at the end of the program at 1:30 pm.

• Two (2) shows from Snakes-N-Scales at 11:00 am and 12:30 pm
Activities and Giveaways
• One (1) per family will be given a Reusable Bag by the Hawthorne Recycling Department
• Craft Workshop by Hawthorne Environmental Commission for all Ages
• Offering variety of Games
• Plant Swap – Bring Perennials, houseplants, and annual seedlings accepted; Bring plants in pots or bare root and wrapped, labeled between 10:00 am to 11:00 am! Swap will begin at 11:00 am, first come, first served.
Refreshments
• Pappy’s Juice Bar will be selling smoothies and empanadas.
Come and learn about Hawthorne’s Green Map, Birds of Hawthorne, Importance of Native Plants, Garden tips from Hawthorne’s Community Garden, anti-idling, tick and lyme disease, Hawthorne Shade Tree Commission, Hawthorne’s recycling program, and Hawthorne Historical Society.
All are invited and welcome. Admission is free.
