Safety and etiquette are crucial when embarking on a safari in Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks or any other wildlife reserve. Respecting the wildlife and the environment not only ensures a safe and responsible experience but also helps conserve these natural habitats. Here are some important safety and etiquette guidelines:

Safety and Etiquette:

  • Stay Inside the Vehicle: When on a game drive it's essential to remain inside your safari vehicle especially when you're near wild animals. The vehicle provides both a barrier and safety for you and a respectful distance for the animals.
  • Listen to Your Guide: Our safari guide is an experienced expert who knows the park and its wildlife. Follow his instructions at all times to ensure your safety and the safety of the animals.
  • Keep a Safe Distance: Maintain a respectful distance from wildlife. It's tempting to get as close as possible for photos but this can stress animals and pose risks.
  • No Feeding the Animals: Never feed wildlife as this disrupts their natural behavior and can be dangerous.
  • Avoid Sudden Movements: Sudden movements or loud noises can startle animals so it's essential to be calm and quiet while observing them.
  • Keep a Low Profile: Avoid standing up or making yourself too visible in the vehicle. Animals can perceive a standing human as a potential threat.
  • Sun Protection: Protect yourself from the sun with sunscreen a hat and sunglasses. Dehydration and sunburn are common issues on safaris.
  • Stay Hydrated: We provide enough safe drinking water to stay hydrated especially in the hot climate of these parks.
  • Safety in Camps/Lodges: Follow safety rules and instructions provided by camp/lodge staff. Be cautious around open fires and wildlife that may visit the camp.
  • Respect the Environment: Do not litter. Keep all trash and dispose of it properly. Respect the pristine environment by leaving no trace.
  • Noisy Behavior: Keep noise levels to a minimum. Loud talking or music can disrupt wildlife and disturb other safari-goers. Do not clap or cheer as this might scare the animals.
  • Flash Photography: Use discretion when using flash photography. It can be startling and disruptive to animals particularly at night.
  • Respect Local Communities: If you have the opportunity to interact with local communities be respectful and considerate of their culture and traditions.
  • Stay on Marked Trails: If walking or hiking is part of your safari always stick to designated trails and follow the guidance of your guides.
  • Wildlife Health: Do not attempt to touch or handle wildlife even if you think an animal is injured or in distress.
  • Off-Roading: Stay on designated roads and tracks during game drives. Off-roading can damage the fragile ecosystems and disturb wildlife.

By following these safety and etiquette guidelines you not only enhance your own safari experience but also contribute to the conservation efforts in these national parks. It's essential to be a responsible and ethical traveler while enjoying the incredible natural beauty and wildlife of Tsavo East and Tsavo West.

Remember that both Tsavo East and Tsavo West are located in remote areas so it's essential to be prepared and respect the environment.
