Being a carer for someone you love can sometimes be challenging and isolating. Staying at Home creates opportunities for you to meet others who are going through the same experiences in a supportive environment, and for carers to know they are not alone. With a strong focus on wellbeing and self-care, carers will be equipped to navigate the complexities and challenges of supporting a person living with dementia. As part of the program, the person living with dementia is offered an introduction to respite and receives tailored, individual support to continue meaningful and enjoyable activities for longer.
Designed as an overnight retreat (over three days and two nights), you will join other carers and people living with dementia in a supportive peer environment. The program allows you to be introduced to respite together, so you both feel comfortable and enjoy the experience.
The retreats are free for participants to attend with all food and accommodation covered. Please, visit our website to check the eligibility criteria - www.unitingcommunities.org/service/older-people/support-for-carers/stayingathome
