About this Sugar Cookie Class

This class is for the beginner cookier or for the person who is just curious about what cookie decorating is all about! If you have limited experience with sugar cookies, found yourself frustrated with royal icing, or if you're trying to have fun with family or friends, this is the class for you! We will be doing a fun “Sun & Sugar” theme set that tastes amazing and will look even better once you’ve completed your decorating!

We provide everything you will need from cookies, icing, sprinkles, and a box to take your awesome creations home in - we just need YOU! Each to-be-baker gets 6 cookies, 4 icing colors, sprinkles, and all the tools necessary to knock this cookie class out of the park! Everything is prepped right before class – so no baking or icing mixing required. Just decorate!

This class is on Sunday July 28 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm sharp so we can have enough time to decorate and answer along the way. Come by yourself, bring your best friend, or bring the family! It's a blast whether you're coming with a friend, family member, or solo!

This class is good for ages 12+, but if you'd like to leave the kiddos at home, order an extra add-on kit! The kits are great for kids at home, plus - we'll send you the class PowerPoint so you can teach them yourself!

The location for this class will be at the Charmed Marigold at the Eastern Shore Centre at 30500 AL-181 #120, Spanish Fort, AL 36527! The shop is right next to Bath and Body Works.

FAQs

What will I be doing in the class?

Besides having the most fun ever? We will be going over some cookie facts and decorating techniques. You will be decorating your very own set of cookies that you will take home that day.

Can I purchase an additional take-home kit?

Yes! Many parents or practicing cookiers purchase additional class kits to take home and re-do the classes. You can purchase an add-on kit during check-out. Your kit will be available at the end of your class - so don't forget it! If you’re skipping class and just ordering the kit – swing by anytime during class to sneak in and pick it up – it’ll be labeled with your name!

Do I need to know how to bake?

Nope! No baking history required. We will have the cookies pre-made for you along with the icing already mixed and colored.

What will we learn in class?

You’ll learn what goes into preparing royal icing, the value of different icing consistencies – we’ll touch on tips and tricks to make your cookies look even better than they taste (and they taste good)! You’ll also learn different decorating techniques depending on the class theme such as marbling, outlining, wet-on-wet, and painting. Or hey – go off script and make your own designs – it’s your class!

What do I need to bring?

Nothing but a smile! Everything will be provided for you including my sugar cookies. All you need to do is join us and have fun! Messy decorator? You can bring your own apron or just wear easy-to-wash clothing. There is a PowerPoint for reference, so if you wear glasses, we'd encourage you to bring them as well. Oh – and bring your phone – We love photos!

What age is best for cookie classes?

Our in-person classes are great for ages 12+. If you have younger kids for the in-person class, purchase an additional take-home kit! We'll send you the class PowerPoint, and you can teach your kids in the comfort of your own home.

Can just my child take the class?

This class is designed for ages 12+. Due to insurance requirements, any kids under the age of 16 need to be accompanied by an adult. Parents must also purchase a ticket and take the class as well - but I promise you this - it's super fun for all involved!

What will I bring home?

By the end of the class, you will have created a set of gorgeous cookies ready to dry for 24 - 48 hours in their own box. I’ll send you an Amazon link with a list of the tools we used in class so that you can recreate these cookies at home. And of course, you’ll have new skills, memories, and fun!

Can I sign up as an individual or as a group?

You can sign up either as an individual, with a friend, or with a whole group. The more the merrier! We are limited to a total of 20 seats per class due to venue restrictions, so definitely sign up ASAP!

Where are the classes located?

The location for our classes is the Charmed Marigold at the Eastern Shore Centre located at 30500 AL-181 #120, Spanish Fort, AL 36527 (next to Bath and Body Works).

I signed up for a class but can't make it?

:( We understand that life happens so that’s why we allow you to cancel up to 7 days before the class. You can always transfer your spot to a friend though (and what a nice friend you are). Any cancellation after the 7 days cannot be refunded, BUT you can pick up your kit and decorate it at home!

Things to Bring

Wondering what you need to bring to have a successful time decorating? Well – nothing’s required – but here’s the things we recommend if you’d like to elevate your experience!

  • Bring an apron! Things can get messy when you’re workin’ with royal icing – so grab an apron (bonus points if it’s cute – I’ll definitely be asking where you got it).
  • Bring your glasses! There’s a reference slide deck to help you decorate, but if things get blurry far away, glasses may be a great bet.
  • Bring your phone! I love it when students take pictures throughout class – so bring a phone!
  • Bring a good attitude! Cookies are fun, but they're also challenging! A good attitude makes all the difference.

About Eastern Shore Sweetness

Who doesn’t love getting out and doing something fun while also eating delicious cookies!? That’s what Eastern Shore Sweetness is all about!

These classes are based in Daphne, AL and cater to the beginner cookier or people just looking to have fun learning a new skill. Whether you just want a fun date, a girls-or-guys-night-out or just want to explore what cookie decorating is on your own - we have a seat for you.

For our classes, all you will need to bring is yourself (and an apron if you are a messy decorator), and we’ll take care of the rest. Oh – and bring your eyeglasses so you can see the instructional PowerPoint! You will get a set of pre-baked cookies (pretty tasty if I do say so myself) as well as all the supplies you will need to decorate them during the 2-hour class. You will leave the class with your very own box of your very own newly decorated cookies!

A little about me – I’ve been baking since I was little, I decided to specialize in cookies in 2021 – and I’ve not put down a scribe since (don’t know what a scribe is? I’ll teach you in class!). Cookies are my favorite thing to bake! I love sugar cookies, stuffed cookies, crispy cookies, gooey cookies - I just love cookies! You probably wouldn't guess it, but I am a full time accountant that just needs a creative outlet - and cookies happen to fill that void! I love what I do –who wouldn’t love making cookies?! It’s the sweetest job in the world!

I will be offering classes throughout the year which highlight different themes so make sure to sign up for our newsletter so you can get in on the cookie action!

Allergens: Heads up – these cookies include the following ingredients: Sugar, Flour, Butter, Corn Syrup, Eggs, Vanilla, Lemon Juice, Food Colorings, Salt, Baking Powder.

Please note – these cookies are prepared in a kitchen that also bakes with common, known allergens: Wheat, Eggs, Milk

Please consider your allergies before registering.

Class Cancellation Policy: Classes may be canceled at the discretion of me, the event host. This rarely happens – but in that extremely rare event that it does, you’ll receive a 100% refund.

Classes with attendance below 6 will be canceled and all tickets will be refunded. Don’t be sad! I have multiple classes planned for this year! So, just follow my page, and we will get you into the next one! I’ll let you know if your class has low attendance before the event is canceled so that you can bring a friend (hint hint) or find other plans for that day.

Weather Policy: Sometimes Jack Frost doesn’t play well with cookie class schedules, and Mother Nature seems to be takin’ notes. In the event of inclement weather, I’ll contact you with options – these may differ depending on the weather event, but rest assured – we’ll figure something out!

Eventbrite Fees: Eventbrite does not refund its fees. If you cancel your ticket and request a refund prior to the cancellation window expiring, we’ll happily give you a refund less the Eventbrite fee. Eventbrite keeps it regardless of whether you show up or cancel. I know – I hate it too!

DIY / Add-On Kits

Order your sugar cookie class kit and take the class home with you to teach a child or friend! These class kits come with everything you'll use in class, and I’ll email you the class PowerPoint so you can follow our step-by-step instructions from home! Cookie Class DIY Kits are created before your class, and you'll pick them up and take them with you after class.

How long can a kit last? Depending on how you store your icing, your kits can last for a week or longer. Freezing cookies keep them fresh for a long time, but I recommend using your kit as soon as possible - ideally in the first week after you've taken it home. Cookies are heat sealed for freshness – but again, use it in under a week to make sure it tastes the best.
