Described as “the best DJ in the world” by Hudson Mohawke and labelled a genius by DJ Qbert, Woody is one of the UK’s most influential turntablists. He helped design the world’s first ever musical turntable instrument (the Vestax Controller One) and is recognised as a prolific pioneer of new scratch techniques. His musical approach to the turntable has led to recordings for labels including Ninja Tunes, BBE, Universal, Jazz Fudge, Tokyo Dawn, Chopped Hearing, Passenger, Twisted Nerve and Jack to Phono Records.
As a performer, he has been the DJ for Grammy-winning hip hop artist Mala Rodriguez, has written scratch music for a 25-piece big band jazz orchestra and, as a long-time associate of DJ Vadim, was a member of The Russian Percussion and One Self. He has performed in over 40 countries in venues ranging from The Nokia Theatre in Times Square to a Bollywood film studio in Mumbai.
