jo reyes-boitel is a queer, mixed Latinx poet, playwright, and scholar, having just completed their MFA at the University of Texas – Rio Grande Valley where she served as a Presidential Research Fellow and taught undergraduate creative writing courses. jo’s work centers on decoloniality and the role of longing and mourning in reclaiming cultural inheritance and identity. Their publications include Michael + Josephine (FlowerSong Press, 2019), the chapbook mouth (Neon Hemlock, 2021), and her newest work, the matchstick litanies (Next Page Press, 2023). jo has also written and produced “she wears bells”, a hybrid opera, which was a finalist in Guerilla Opera’s 2022 virtual festival. jo is a fellow of Macondo and VoNA/Voices of Our Nations.
Carmen Calatayud is the daughter of immigrants: A Spanish father and Irish mother. Her second book This Tangled Body was published by FlowerSong Press, in conjunction with Letras Latinas, in 2024. Her first book In the Company of Spirits was a runner-up for the Academy of American Poets Walt Whitman Award and an Andrés Montoya Poetry Prize finalist. Calatayud’s poetry has appeared in numerous journals and anthologies. She is a Larry Neal Poetry Award winner, a Best of La Bloga winner and a member of the Macondo Writers Workshop. She lives in San Antonio, Texas.
