2nd Saturday Art Series: Ceramics & Sangria with local artist; Carey Shaw. Learn how to handbuild clay and create a unique piece!
About this Event

Art & 2nd Saturday go together like Pizza & Beer and what better way to combine them all and creating your own original masterpiece! Join us for a fun morning, sangrias to toast, and getting your hands in some clay!

Learn new art skills & make something functional and unique to use daily, or give as an original gift! You can make a cup, mug, bowl, plant holder, plate or spoon rest. Make it a date with your lover or make it a lady's or man's morning out, or bring your family! Kids are welcome & get a complimentary non-alcoholic beverage with the ticket!

Each session includes a choice of complementary sangria or non-alcoholic option, clay, instruction by Carey Shaw, glazing (the paint of clay), and the cost of 2 firings (the baking of the clay)-bisque and glaze firings! At every class, you get to meet new people, connect with the community, and have a light-hearted, creative time in the intimate & unique setting of recycled shipping containers of The Federalist!

In this workshop, you will learn wedging and hand-building techniques for clay. Each piece will be glazed with food-safe glaze and will be functional art that can last for years! Be a part of this workshop to get your drink on, non- alcoholic options too, and create a handmade piece!

Carey is a local artist and teacher with over 23 years of Ceramics experience! She has taught high school ceramics & now gives private lessons and small group classes to adults and children around Sacramento and from her studio space! Clay is a medium that SHE LOVES! It is extremely relaxing to create with natural material and just downright fun to get your fingers dirty! Come join us for 2nd Saturdays this Spring, Summer & Fall at Federalist Public House, toast some spirits, and get your creative on!

*You will need to leave your piece to fully harden & become bone dry, to be fired, glazed, and fired again. Carey will text you when your pieces are ready for pick up on a second Saturday after your session at Federalist! It will be fired, glazed and ready to use!
