Dear fellow improvisers, comedians, and audiences of all persuasions, Please prepare for the 2nd Prague Improvathon - an effort to help Ukrainian citizens rebuild their lives, all using the power of comedy and good laughs!
This is an initiative by the entire Prague International Improv Community, organized by the experienced members of The Improv Academy Prague, and it goes out as an invitation to improvisers and audiences in all the world. Details follow on how it works and how to participate.
Happy laughing!
MISSION
The war in Ukraine continues, with casualties in unarmed civilians increasing every day. It's not fresh news anymore, but now it's even worse for them than before: After years of continued suffering, the children, women, injured soldiers and horribly traumatized animals of Ukraine need support more than ever - support that goes directly to them, to help them recover and rebuild their lives, without any government stipulations.
We are not doctors or soldiers, but we still have a way to help! Using the power of laughter, we have decided to gather once again and join comedic forces, to create a big comedy event that crosses borders and affiliations: the Improvathon!
DATES, TICKETS
This is a 26-hour continuous Improv Show that will take place live in Prague, from 20:00 March 21st to 23:00 March 22nd.
THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE TO WATCH OR PERFORM IN THE WHOLE SHOW...UNLESS YOU WANT TO. Audiences can visit anytime during this time bracket, for as long or as little as they want. Specific program details and Headliners will be announced closer to the date.
Entrance to the show is DONATION-based (in person and online), and ALL PROCEEDS GO TO SELECTED CHARITIES for Humanitarian Aid in Ukraine.
For international audiences, WE WILL BE STREAMING ONLINE live, so you can TUNE IN ANYTIME FROM ANYWHERE in the world, and also DONATE ONLINE.
PARTICIPATION
This is an open invitation to improvisers in Prague and around the world: You are welcome to join us, individually or as Imrpov groups, to perform in the show. Musicians are also welcome to perform during show intervals, mostly in 15-minute brackets - while comedians are furiously refueling on caffeine in the background. Original and cover music of all persuasions is welcome.
The show format at this stage is very fluid, and can accomodate entire Improv groups for their own show, or independent improvisers joining into games and jams. When we have a better idea of participation, we will be publishing a detailed schedule.
Travel and accomodation to Prague for the weekend will have to be arranged by the improvisers themselves. There is limited capacity for free accomodation...but presumably you will not NEED sleep, eh???
Please CONTACT US via messenger or email at [email protected] and we will be happy to discuss details with you!
FINAL NOTE:
To conclude, this is both an opportunity to have fun with old and new friends, do something unusually challenging as a performer and at the same time genuinely give a helping hand to people who need it.
Please join us in the struggle to bring joy and happiness to as many Ukrainian civilians as possible! In return, if that is not enough, we promise to give you a few good belly laughs to help you through the winter days!
Best of the best,
Prague Improv Community
