1st Forró teacher:
Bernardo started dancing Forró in the UK with the Forró Family group in Brighton and London in 2016. At that time, Forró was his remedy to cope with a stressful PhD. It provided a way to shut off the brain and let the music heal. Naturally, his enthusiasm for Brazilian culture and the happiness surrounding the dancing community grew. Then he became totally addicted to dancing. Later on Bernardo started his own teaching classes in his home town Biella, Italy, before moving to Australia, where he joined Forró Brisbane, and Forró Cairns.
2nd Forró teacher: Julie
Julie is a forro teacher from Brisbane. She started dancing forro in 2019 and quickly became hooked. She says she can't see her life without teaching forro anymore!
3rd Forró teacher: Léo Rio
Leo originates from Rio de Janeiro and has been dancing forró for over 25 years. Before moving to Australia, he was the owner and teacher at Forró Norway, now at Forroz Melbourne dance school. He has given workshops and classes all around Europe, Austrália and Ásia. Leo is also a forró musician and a renowned DJ in Europe/Austrália hitting the perfect trifecta of knowledge of forró history, musicality and dance.
4th Barbara Loreto
Barbara’s love for forró started over 25 years ago, and since moving to Australia, the connection to Brazilian culture and expressing it through music and dance became not only a passion but a way of celebrating her identity as a migrant.
Barbara is based in Brisbane where she teaches workshops of all styles including roots. Barbara teaches all levels including teachers, and at festivals over the past 6 years.
