About this Event
Water, Wings and Wild Things KIDS Festival is for 2nd Grade Students in Central Florida. The FREE event is to engage and inspire students to love science and the natural world around them. Through this exploration, students will discover the interconnection of water, wildlife and wilderness; understand their impact on the environment; and foster a sense of personal stewardship towards the environment.
This fun and educational festival is designed to:
- Correlate with the 2nd grade NGSS Science Standards on basic needs of living things, life cycles, living things are found all over Earth, problem solving, and using scientific tools.
- Connect students with people who use math and science skills in their job
- Engage students in outdoor activities available in central Florida
- Show students how they can make a positive impact on their environment
- Provide a safe, structured, exciting way to experience the outdoors
This is an outdoor festival. Students will travel in groups with their teacher/chaperone exploring different vendor booths focused on environmental and conservation issues.
The Water, Wings, and Wild Things Festival is a partnership between the Polk County Environmental Lands Program, Friends of the Parks, and Southwest Florida Water Management District.
Date & Time : Thursday, January 16th, 9:00am-1:00pm
Location: This program will be held at Circle B Bar Reserve, Lakeland Florida.
Tickets & Sign-Ups: Tickets and registration are required for this event. 1 Ticket = 1 bus. Ticket sales start, Friday, October 18th, at 2:00pm.
P LEASE NOTE: Free Bussing is only eligable for Polk County Public and Charter Schools. If you are private school and plan on attending, please register through the Eventbrite: 2nd Grade Water, Wings, and Wild Things Festival BUS COST TO SCHOOL (2025)
