“One of my earliest memories is of riding in my parent’s car in Ann Arbor, MI and seeing the animated SpeeDee McDonald’s Hamburger sign. It moved AND had neon. Looking back at the span of time since I was two years old, I am aware that my eye is drawn to lit signs of the noble gas variety.”
“About 25 years ago, while on a family road trip to New Mexico we took Route 66 and I started to photograph what I was always fascinated with: old roadside buildings and signage, somewhat decayed and sometimes broken. I was also interested in the shadows created by the bent glass lettering and the effects of time and weather on the scenes.”
“I started to find older signage and buildings in Sacramento and the surrounding area, including the Bay Area, the Central Valley, Los Angeles and New York. I am drawn to the melancholy inherent in old wall signs and derelict buildings as they age and degrade.”
