About this Event
Welcome to the 2nd Annual Substance Prevention Resources and Empowerment Expo (SPREE)! Join us at the Berna Facio Professional Development Center for an afternoon filled with valuable information and resources on substance prevention and intervention. Our expo features a fun family atmosphere with a DJ, a photo booth, face painting, therapy dogs and horses, a "make it and take it" therapeutic craft room, National Guard Impaired Driving Cart obstacle course and "In Plain Sight" mobile unit and a FREE meal from one of our four food trucks. Inside on the main stage there will be student performances including Balie Folklorio dancers, Chamber Guitar, Les Chanteauses and UNM's Something Major A Capella Group.
The afternoon is filled with valuable information and resources on substance prevention and intervention and there will be a Take Back container where you can bring your unused medications(pills only) from home for proper disposal and interactive workshops including a youth track focused on safety and coping skills along with the community workshops focusing on the dangers of social media and the impact on substance use for our teens, how THC is different from W**d of the past, and an entire room for Spanish speaking families to learn more about how to talk to their students about substances and following through. A highlight of the event are our panels which have both an insightful student resiliency panel as well as gripping adult lived experience panels. SPREE aims to educate and empower individuals and families and features NARCAN training that includes a free personal unit to take home along with a logo goodie bag to use when visiting our more than 30 community resource tables. Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity for the entire community---we hope to see you there!
