About this Event

Baltimore Healthy Start is partnering with the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture to host our Second Annual Leaders In Black Maternal Health Awards Luncheon -- a fundraiser celebrated each year during Black Maternal Health Week to raise funds towards programs/services that shape positive birthing experiences for low-income Black women in Baltimore City, and to increase awareness on black maternal mortality/morbidity.

Each year, we commemorate five exceptional African-American leaders who have achieved ground-breaking work in the maternal health space. This year's honorees include: Dr. Mary-Ann Etiebet (Leadership Award), Representative Lauren Underwood (Advocacy Award), Dr. Kamara Jones (Champion Award), Dr. Fleda Mask-Jackson (Visionary Award), and Sheila Washington (Lillian Armstrong Service Award).

We will be joined by Maternal Health Advocate/Activist, Charles Johnson as our Keynote Speaker!

Charles Johnson is an accomplished Maternal Health Advocate; Charles Johnson has testified twice before Congress to help pass groundbreaking legislatation including the Preventing Maternal Death Act of 2018, the Protecting Moms Who Served Act of 2021, and the California Momnibus. Additionally, he is the founder of the non-profit 4Kira4Moms, a non-profit dedicated to improving birth outcomes.

Join us for an afternoon of excellence & celebrate the legacies of outstanding leaders in maternal health on Tuesday, April 11, 2024 from 11AM to 2PM at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum located at 830 E. Pratt St. Baltimore, MD 21202. Tikcets $85 per person or purchase a table of 8 for only $640. We hope to see you there!
