Rockvale High School to Host Elite Student Competitors in the Ultimate Test of Strategy and Critical Thinking
RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN – The stage is set for the 2nd Annual Invitational High School Chess Championship, where the brightest young minds from across the region will compete for the ultimate honor—recognition as a master of the sport and a champion of critical thinking. This prestigious event will take place Saturday, April 12, 2025, in the Rockvale High School cafeteria. Pre-match instructions begin at 8:30 AM, with the first round of play starting promptly at 9:00 AM.
Unlike traditional tournaments, this invitational competition welcomes only one representative from each invited high school, ensuring that every move on the board carries the weight of school pride. The winner will be awarded the highly coveted “Master’s Tie”, a symbol of excellence in strategic thinking and mental discipline.
“This tournament is about more than just chess—it’s about sharpening young minds, fostering competitive spirit, and honoring the power of critical thinking,” said Mitchell, Rutherford County Assessor and organizer of the competition. “We are proud to bring together some of the most talented high school players for this exciting event.”
Community members, local businesses, and booster clubs are invited to support the next generation of strategic thinkers by sponsoring a competitor. About the Invitational High School Chess Championship
The Invitational High School Chess Championship is an annual event that brings together top student competitors from across the region to test their skills, represent their schools, and compete for the distinguished Master’s Tie and trophies for all competitors. The tournament highlights the importance of strategic thinking, patience, and intellectual growth.Students are encouraged to wear their school jersey. This is an invitational. The first 12 schools to enroll will be accepted. Those who enroll late will be placed on an alternate entry list in the event that one school does not report at the starting time.
