WMPG is excited to announce the 29th Mardi Gras celebration and Cajun Cookin’ Challenge! This free event is on Tuesday February 17th, 2026 from 11am - 2pm on the 2nd floor of the McGoldrick Student Success Center, 35 Bedford St, Portland, ME 04101.The Cajun Cookin’ Challenge offers a lively mix of New Orleans–style music, bold Cajun cuisine, and festive fun, plus plenty of beads, beads, beads.
Attendees will enjoy classic New Orleans music from the Ideal Maine Social Aid & Sanctuary Band alongside selections from WMPG’s New Orleans–loving DJs. Local restaurants and caterers will showcase their culinary skills, serving up a variety of Cajun-inspired dishes.
Restaurants already confirmed for 2026 include Bayou Kitchen, Ruski’s, Sodexo, Po Boys & Pickles, SMCC Culinary Arts, Bayside American Cafe, and Maggie Mae’s. Guests are invited to vote for their favorite dish, with the winning restaurant earning a trophy and bragging rights.
With lively music, irresistible aromas, and a welcoming crowd, the Cajun Cookin’ Challenge has become a cherished community tradition. WMPG looks forward to welcoming everyone back to celebrate Mardi Gras together with great food, great music, and great company.
