The City of Mansfield and Downtown Mansfield, Inc. are pleased to announce Tuesday, May 21st has been declared as Operation Clean Sweep in downtown Mansfield. Operation Clean Sweep is our annual litter clean up event where local leaders, businesses and resident demonstrate their commitment to our community.
Property owners and businesses are encouraged to utilize this event to "spruce up" the inside and outside of storefront windows.
For the 15th year, the downtown flower planting project will also take place on the date of Operation Clean Sweep.
Volunteers are being asked to don their work clothes and meet at Central Park near the Gazebo between 4:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21st (rain date of Thursday, May 23rd) for approximately 1 hour in an effort to clean up the litter and debris in the downtown area. (Clean up will begin at 5:00 p.m.)
Businesses conducting beautification can register to participate in the Take Pride, Earth Stewardship Contest. Details for the contest are included in this mailing. It’s quite simple – show before/after photos around your business of litter removed, flower planting, painting – whatever you choose as your project.
The city of Mansfield will provide collection bags, gloves, and disposal of the litter and debris collected. Volunteers are asked to bring their own brooms, shovels, and if desired durable work gloves.
Photos of volunteers in action and before and after shots will be posted on the City of Mansfield’s website and Operation Clean Sweep Facebook page.
