About this Event
The 28th Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival, a weeklong worldwide contest that allows the audience to choose the winner, will take once again place at the Englewood Public Library. The 10 short films can be seen on any of the following dates:
Thursday, September 25, at 2 p.m. or Saturday, September 27 at 2 p.m. or Monday, September 29 at 7 p.m. or Tuesday, September 30 at 7 p.m. or Friday, October 3 at 2 p.m. or Sunday, October 5 at 2 p.m.
This program is free and open to the public, and registration is recommended but not required at bccls.org, choosing Library Events, then Englewood, and select the session you prefer. The films will be shown in Room 2.
The Englewood Public Library is one of only three venues in Bergen County that will be participating in this year's festival.
Audiences at each venue will be handed a voting card upon entry to each cinema and asked to vote for the ONE film they think should win. By virtue of their selection by Manhattan Short, each short film is automatically Oscar-qualified. One of the films shown last year received the Oscar for Best Short Film, and attendees were able to watch this short film before most of the Academy members. The short films featured are intended for viewing by adults only.
Please note that the same films will be repeated at each showing. The idea is to offer times convenient to as many film lovers as possible. This worldwide event is taking place in over 500 venues across six continents between September 25 and October 5, 2024. Manhattan Short is the only event of its kind. The Final Ten screens simultaneously across the world during a one-week period, with the Best Film and Best Actor awards determined by ballots cast by the audiences in each participating venue.
The 10 Manhattan Short finalists hail from nine countries with films from United Kingdom, Belgium, Israel, Spain, The Netherlands, Mexico, and a combined effort from Norway, the UK and Sweden, in addition to three films from the USA.
