The Annual ANSMA Awards is the organization’s flagship event that the community looks forward to. This is an evening of celebration, music, achievement and Black Excellence. Performances by some of the African Nova Scotian communities' best talent can be expected when attending the awards, in addition to a variety of creatives being acknowledged for the work they have put in during the year. Contributions from the province’s music trailblazers will also be recognized for their impact each year during this ceremony.
Our theme for the 27th ANSMA Award Show is ROOTS AND RHYTHM! Depicting the intricate connection between our heritage as people of African descent and the music we’ve created that has transcended time. Tying the indigenous African Nova Scotian roots to those of music across the Black Diaspora, this year’s ANSMA Awards brings the local and global black music history into centre focus.
