BEFORE BRIDGERTON THERE WAS JANE AUSTEN, a true Regency Period novelist. Sunday 5th October - Wednesday 8th October 11am to 5pm Displays of original and beautifully recreated costumes of the Georgian and Regency eras - accessories include fans, jewellery and fashion plates of the time.
Quilts on display inspired by the original quilt made by Jane Austen, her sister and mother in Chawton House Museum, Hampshire, UK.
Detailed miniature scenes illustrating Austen’s novels. Textiles, porcelain and print material of the era and much more. Meet members of Victoriana Society of SA in costume and “The Jane Austen Society”.
Informative talk sessions on many aspects of Austen’s life and work.
Music transcribed and performed by Professor Gillian Dooley, from Jane Austen’s original sheet music.
We invite you to don your best Georgian or Regency inspired attire (or come in full Bridgerton bling), to view the exhibits and wander through the charming gardens for a photo opportunity.
Explore Beaumont House and gardens and enjoy teas (extra cost) on the verandah.
