Each year, the Cardinal O’Connor Conference on Life strives to promote intellectually rigorous discourse on the sanctity of human life as well as build a culture of life both within and beyond the Georgetown community. Georgetown students founded the Conference in 2000 and remain both the organizers and facilitators. Rooted in the Catholic tradition, the Conference is named in the honor of His Eminence John Cardinal O’Connor, who principally committed himself to advocate for the defenseless and eloquently defend pro-life positions.
Theme: "A Life of the Mind for the Life of the World: Fostering a Culture of Life on University Campuses and Beyond "
Reflection, research, and dialogue hold immense power to shape pro-life work today. With this theme, we will more deeply consider educational institutions' ability to foster a culture of life through learning and exchange, and consequently, pro-life students' responsibility to engage in discourse both within and beyond their campuses. Our panel's conversation will equip our audience with an understanding of principled dialogue to initiate pro-life conversations in their classes, workplaces, and communities.
*Due to Georgetown University's public health guidance, the 2022 Cardinal O’Connor Conference will be held through a virtual format on January 22nd, 2022. We guarantee that registered attendees will be able to access our content asynchronously (i.e. through recorded sessions) after January 22nd, and we are also working to provide you with opportunities for synchronous virtual engagement with our speakers. There will also still be an opportunity for students to connect with pro-life sponsor organizations.
