Break Out Sessions: (Long Term Care, Disaster Behavioral Health, and Practicum)
- Tanya Welch (Benedictine-Anoka) will be speaking about the imipact of the Microsoft outage on her facility this past summer, including non-functioning EMR and the need to activate downtime procedures; and Laurie Thompson (Vivie fka Walker Methodist) will be speaking about a 7-story assisted living facility that experienced a power outage this past summer
- Kari Everson (VP of Clinical Services at LeadingAge MN and Ken Combs (Metro Coalition team) will be co-presenting on citation trends in Long Term Care Emergency Preparedness Surveys
- Jeff Weatherhead (President and CEO of Plymouth Harbor on Sarasota Bay, FL) will speak on leading his long term care facility through two evacuations within a week due to Hurricanes Milton and Helene
- Tanya K. Bailey (she/her), (PhD, LICSW, Animal-Assisted Interactions Coordinator, PAWS Program Manager) will speak about Animals in Reponse
- Line of Duty Death Panel will discuss the operational impacts to hospitals

COURSE GOAL
Enhance and improve the preparedness of Minnesota healthcare facilities by providing education from lessons learned to providers and other members of the preparedness team. The educational experience will include review of didactic information relevant to the planning and care practices of all involved in preparedness planning.
OVERALL LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Following this activity, participants should be able to:
- Apply lessons learned in communication and multi-agency coordination during recent disasters and incidents.
- Identify critical aspects of staff and resident/ patient protection during disaster/special incident response.
- Integrate best practices and lessons learned from recent incidents and exercises into facility response planning.
