This training is an educational space to understand how trauma may show up in the body and how it may manifest in different situations and experiences in order to understand and take action toward a more safe, inclusive and equitable future. This training unpacks the intricacies of how trauma impacts individuals and communities and also equips you with tools for self agency and regulation so we can more powerfully hold space for ourselves and others.

Through a better understanding of the body and how it is affected during certain circumstances and events (mentally, physically and emotionally), we as humans are able to ultimately return ourselves back to a balanced state of living, thus breaking the pattern of stress, anxiety, and eventually trauma within ourselves, our community and our globe.

Whilst we will look at trauma at an individual level, we also look at trauma on a collective level so that we can move towards systemic change.

_____

WHY Trauma-Informed?

The body holds trauma to different degrees and complexities. As a facilitator, you are creating space for individuals to explore and connect with their breath, body and mind. Therefore it is important to be sure we are able to hold students in the wholeness of their experience, understand what may be happening for them on a physiological and neurological level, without needing to alter or change their experience. We are here to bear witness, allow, and hold space for transformation in their own time and way.

_____

BA Psych Honours Student

Amanda holds over 500 hours in trauma-informed trainings, including social justice and inclusivity. The intention behind humanistic and trauma-informed offerings is to open a conversation and deepen the understanding of what stress, adversity and trauma are, how it manifests differently from person to person, and how we can more bravely hold safer spaces for all. Its heart rests in the knowing that personal restoration is unique to all and we are here to offer tools, techniques, insights, and points of curiosity for you to evolve into the person and facilitator you want and are meant to be.
