Shootout on the Snye – 4 on 4 Pond Hockey Tournament
Lace up those skates, and let’s celebrate winter and recreation in the Wood Buffalo region!
Shootout on the Snye is a four-on-four pond hockey tournament with a maximum of six players per team (four players on ice, and two substitutes). Each division consists of one or two pool round robin(s), guaranteeing a minimum of three games per team.
Event Information
Dates
Shootout on the Snye officially kicks off on February 20 with a ceremonial puck drop at 6:00 PM and runs until 5:00 PM on February 22.
Tournament Schedule
Shootout on the Snye will operate as a round robin tournament on February 20 and 21.
Playoffs will take place on Sunday, February 22.
Referees
Apply to be a Shootout on the Snye referee! Please visit rmwb.ca/winterplay for more information. Application deadline is February 9.
Note: A referee for every game is not guaranteed. Referees will be assigned on the day of the event.
Orientation
Team coaches are required to attend the online Shootout on the Snye orientation taking place on February 18. Coaches may choose to attend either the 12:00 PM or 6:00 PM orientation session.
Jerseys
Jerseys and Event Packages will be available for pickup February 17-19 from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM at the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo – Jubilee Building 6th Floor, located at 9909 Franklin Avenue. Please check-in at Reception located on the main floor.
Location
All games will take place outside at the WinterPLAY event site on the Snye along the Clearwater River. Games will be 30 minutes, with a 5-minute halftime break. There are 8 rinks, each labeled and assigned for each game. Please remember to dress for the weather.
Parking
Limited parking will be available at the WinterPLAY event site. Please plan accordingly, arrive early, and allow time for check-in and game preparations. Warm up tents will be available.
Registration Information
- Youth (under 18) register individually. Teams will be balanced and created based on player division and skill level. All players will be notified of their team members by February 16.
- Open Division (18+) registration is open for teams of four to six.
- Registration includes a Shootout on the Snye Jersey. Note: jersey sizes are not guaranteed.
- Registration prices includes Eventbrite fees.
- Shootout on the Snye will use pond hockey nets. There are no goalies for this event.
- All players must complete a waiver and release form. Players under 18 must have a parent/guardian sign a waiver and photo release form to participate in Shootout on the Snye. Completed waivers are due by February 10.
-Refunds will be issued up to 7 days before the event. Refunds will be the registration fee minus the Eventbrite fees.
