LOCATION & ACCOMMODATION
The ALPCA Lone Star Region is proud to invite ALPCA members throughout Texas and beyond to its 2026 Winter Swap Meet, to be held at the City of La Grange Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 5254, located on the Fayette County Fairgrounds at 500 Veterans Memorial Dr. in La Grange, Texas. La Grange is a city of about 4,600 on the east side of the Colorado River at the intersection of U.S. 77 and TX-71. It is approximately halfway between San Antonio and Houston, about 16 miles north of Interstate 10 (from Schulenburg).
There are two national chain motels in La Grange and several lower budget independent motels. Most are along Business TX-71 on the west side of La Grange near the intersection of TX-71 and Business TX-71 west of the Colorado River (the business route is the old highway into town). There are also a number of national chain motels at the intersection of Interstate 10 and U.S. 77 in nearby Schulenburg.
SCHEDULE & INFORMATION
The doors will open at 8:00 AM Saturday with coffee and doughnuts. There should be plenty of tables; however those bringing displays need to note that the displays need to be either free-standing or able to lean against the walls. We are not allowed to attach anything to the walls. Lunch will be provided at no cost to meet attendees between 11:30 AM and noon. After lunch, there will be a brief business meeting and awards, followed by a donation auction. The Lone Star Region chapter of ALPCA is celebrating 40 years of existence as of January 1, 2026. If you can, please make an effort to join us at this particular meet to honor this important milestone anniversary with us! Donations are encouraged, either at the meet or beforehand. Those who wish to send donations beforehand can send them to Jim Palmer (#1779), Treasurer. Contact him at [email protected]. Awards will be for Best of Show (for a display of two or more different plates), Best Plate (for a single item or pair) and Long Distance. Please note we must vacate the building promptly and have it all cleaned up by 3 PM.

DIRECTIONS
The Fairgrounds are located on U.S. 77 north of La Grange, just north of where U.S. 77 crosses TX-71 (bypass) with traffic lights. This is about 1.5 miles north of downtown La Grange and about 0.3 miles north of the TX-71 bypass.
COMING FROM THE SOUTH (LA GRANGE): If northbound on U.S. 77 coming out of La Grange, look for the large white sign on the west (left) side of U.S. 77 saying “Fayette County Fairgrounds” soon after crossing TX-71 (bypass) and the traffic lights. There is a slight curve in the highway at the Fairgrounds entrance.
COMING FROM THE NORTH (GIDDINGS): If southbound on U.S. 77 from Giddings (being widened as of August 2025), first watch for the intersection of FM-2145 from the east (left). About half a mile past this (also on the left) will be the former St. Mark’s Medical Center (now permanently closed). The Fairgrounds entrance is about 0.6 miles past the medical center (to the right) and is just past a large green highway sign warning of curves and a hill.
Note: the large white “Fayette County Fairgrounds” sign at the Fairgrounds entrance mentioned above is not visible if coming from Giddings.
Not far after turning into the Fairgrounds the road will split into three forks. Take the right fork and follow it for about 0.3 miles past some baseball fields to the VFW Hall.
Hope to see y'all there!
Note: after La Grange on February 21, the next Lone Star Region meet will be in Copeville (east of Dallas, near Farmersville) on April 11, 2026.
