Rookie’s Touch Program (Ages 7–12)The Rookie’s Touch Program is the perfect introduction or progression to Junior Touch Rugby in the Whitsundays. With two seasons per year, Rookie’s allows kids to learn the game in a real competition environment while feeling supported, encouraged, and included.
Each session is carefully structured to maximise learning and enjoyment. Half of every lesson focuses on skills and drills, developing the fundamentals of Touch Rugby, including passing, catching, movement, key motor skills, coordination, and age-appropriate fitness.
The second half of the session transitions into modified game play, where participants put their new skills into action in a fun, inclusive, and positive game setting. Our program strongly emphasises personal improvement, confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
What Kids Get From Rookie’s
Thanks to Green Energy Technologies and our partnership with Junior Touch Academy (JTA), the Rookie’s program gives children the opportunity to:
Learn the rules of Touch with Coach Chloe and trained junior referees
Develop essential footy skills and apply them during game play
Receive their own official Rookie’s shirt
Build confidence, coordination, friendships, and teamwork
Prepare for their first real Touch Football competition experience
Rookie’s is a fun, friendly, and supportive pathway for young players taking their first steps into organised Touch Rugby.
