GENERAL INFORMATION Come along and paddle a beaut stretch of water and get some good kms in on the river!
The race is held on a grade 1-2 rapids on the scenic Rangitikei River and is ideal preparation for the Coast to Coast.
Approved Buoyancy Aid (6.2kg) and Helmets MUST be worn
Competitors must be competent Grade II Certificate paddlers
ACCOMMODATION– Camping grounds are available at Mangaweka and Vinegar Hill (finish) or also options at Awastone Riverside Haven https://www.mangaweka.co.nz/
SHUTTLE SERVICE (Before the Race)
A shuttle bus will run from Vinegar Hill at 9am back to the start (with a pick up at Ohingaiti on the way for any short course paddlers). Drop your kayak off at the start (Utiku) and drive your car to the finish (Vinegar Hill or Ohingaiti), the bus will return you to the start. Cost $20 (pay bus driver). Entries close midnight Friday January 9th (Lates accepted on the day up to 9.00am, at $40 extra cost)
Registration will be from 8.00am, Utiku Gravel Pit, Toe Toe Road, off State Highway One.
Race briefing 9.45am approx
RACE START
First class leaves 10.15am approx (Recreational, DRR, Sprinters, Innovative etc), short course paddlers will start five minutes after last class of long course racers.
