About Ra’Shad The Blues Kid
Larry McGill, better known as Ra’Shad The Blues Kid, hails from Laurel, Mississippi — the heart of the Piney Woods. A self-taught musician inspired by soul and gospel, his passion for music began long before he could play. After studying at Jackson State University, he formed The Groove Band in 2011, backing Southern Soul greats like LaMorris Williams and Krishunda Echols before stepping into the spotlight himself.
Mentored by Mississippi bluesman L.C. Ulmer, Ra’Shad took on the moniker “The Blues Kid” in his honor. His 2017 debut single Shake It introduced his signature fusion of blues, soul, and Southern flavor, followed by acclaimed albums Country Soul, Southern Side of Soul, and Bluz Me. His song Revolution earned a nomination for a 2020 Underground Southern Soul Award.
Featured in Living Blues Magazine, Blues Festival Guide, and Pulse Magazine, Ra’Shad was inducted into the Alabama Blues Hall of Fame and placed 2nd at the 2025 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, winning the Lee Oskar Silver Prize. Having shared stages with icons like Bobby Rush, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, and Shemekia Copeland, Ra’Shad continues to bridge blues, soul, and Southern grit with every performance.
About The Chitlins
Born in the smoky dive bars, honky tonks, and casinos of the Mississippi Gulf Coast — where bands play until sunrise — The Chitlins were forged from the love of country, blues, soul, and rock & roll.
Their sound is raw, heartfelt, and steeped in Southern authenticity. The Chitlins have shared the stage with powerhouse acts such as Blackberry Smoke, Samantha Fish, Cedric Burnside Project, Hardy, Jeff Bates, Mr. Sipp, DK Harrell, and Ra’Shad The Blues Kid himself.
Ring in the new year Ground Zero Blues Club Biloxi style — with incredible live music, great food, and a party you won’t forget! 🍾🎶
