Each year, the Frederick Douglass Boulevard Alliance presents the C. Virginia Fields Awards for Leadership and Community Service, named in honor of the iconic former Borough President, whose transformational leadership led to the rezoning of Frederick Douglass Boulevard, Harlem’s most vibrant residential and commercial corridor and restaurant row.
The C. Virginia Fields Awards are presented to New Yorkers for their extraordinary leadership and impact in the Village of Harlem. Our 2026 C. Virginia Fields Awards recipients are:
