📝 New Division Rules for Fair Competition
⚠️200 Singles Player Limit - Across all 3 divisions
⚠️100 Doubles Teams Limit - Across all 3 divisions
🏆 It’s essential for league and tournament players to assess their skill levels accurately and join the appropriate division. Unfortunately, some players choose lower divisions for easy wins, which creates an unfair playing field.
With years of play, most players know where they fit, and it's expected that peers will hold each other accountable. Our new rules aim to create a positive experience for everyone.
Key Rules for the WSC:
1. Three Division Levels – The Competitive division is the highest level.
2. Promotion After Top Placement – Any player who finished in the top three of a lower division last yearust move up a division for the Wisconsin State Cornhole Championships the following year.
3. Record of Player Placements – Player and team placements will be tracked each year. In doubles, if one partner finished in the top three the previous year, the team must play in the next division, even if they change partners or skip a year.
4. Payout Adjustments – Payouts in each lower division will be capped, not exceeding the 4th place prize of the division above.
These measures are designed to prevent “sandbagging” and encourage players at the edge of a higher skill level to compete where they belong. Our goal is to inspire players to challenge themselves, ultimately reaching the top division to compete with Wisconsin’s best.
Other Important Notes for the Wisconsin State Cornhole Tournament:
• Open to Wisconsin Residents Only
This is now an official Wisconsin State Cornhole Tournament, open exclusively to current Wisconsin residents. All participants must show a valid Wisconsin driver’s license or ID if requested.
• No Division Cap
There is no limit on player numbers per division. The maximum entries are 200 for Singles and 100 for Doubles. Once the combined limit across all three divisions is reached, a waiting list will begin. When spots open up, invitations will go to the earliest registrants on the waiting list based on exact time and date.
• This is No Longer a Badger State Games Event
Due to city restrictions and BSG’s fee requirements, this tournament has been re-established as the Wisconsin State Cornhole Tournament, without any organizational membership fees. Open to players of all skill levels across Wisconsin, the event is dedicated to fostering competitive growth and advancement within the sport. With ongoing support, we look forward to expanding the venue, divisions, and prize payouts.
