Friends of Roberts is pleased to participate in the annual Winter Bird Count (also called the Christmas Bird Count) for the Minneapolis West Circle scheduled for Sunday, December 14, from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. or so.Friends of Roberts will coordinate the count in the Sanctuary, William Berry Woods, Lakewood Cemetery and other nearby areas and report on the species and number of birds observed at these sites. More details below*.
All are welcome to participate, and no signup is required! At the start of the count, the Friends of Roberts will provide hot coffee and cocoa in the visitors shelter at the east entrance (adjacent to the Peace Garden parking lot).
There will be an optional potluck and sharing of count sightings for the overall Minneapolis West Circle from 1-2 pm at the Trailhead in Theodore Wirth Park on Sunday.

Other areas we will cover include Lakewood Cemetery, Powderhorn Park, St. Mary's Cemetery, Pamela Park, and Loring Park. Also, Lake Harriet, Bde Maka Ska, and Lake of the Isles.
Note that we should report species seen during "count week" -- 3 days before the count and 3 days afterwards -- if we don't find them on count day, so note any species you see starting on Thursday.
