The Derwent Sailing Squadron is pleased to announce that entries are now open for the REST Energy Tasmania Two Capes Race, to be held on Saturday, 8 November 2025.Now firmly established on Hobart’s offshore racing calendar, this 82-nautical-mile event is known as much for its tactical demands as its stunning course. Departing from the River Derwent, the fleet will head into Storm Bay to round virtual marks at Cape Raoul and Fluted Cape before returning to Hobart. With no physical buoys to rely on, the race has become a true navigators’ challenge, where precision, planning, and plotting are paramount.
As the second leg of the Combined Clubs Offshore Series, this year’s fleet promises fierce competition, ranging from Hobart’s seasoned offshore yachts to nimble, tactical 30-footers. For navigators, the tricky waters of Storm Bay and the precision demanded at the virtual marks make this one of Tasmania’s most rewarding offshore tests, a perfect warm-up for those targeting the Christmas offshore events or anyone simply seeking a challenging local race.
Many thanks to REST Energy Tasmania for their ongoing support of this great race.
Entries are now open, and race documents can be viewed via the event webpage: https://dssinc.org.au/race_events/2025-two-capes-race/
