What to Bring: Black and White jerseys with your name and number and armbands/sharpie
Eligibility: Open to all skaters who are currently a member in good standing of a roller derby league in Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia. Current residents of MD, DE, or DC are also eligible if you are a member of a league in good standing anywhere as long as you have proof of active residency. There will not be an open gender skating option at this time.
To make the 2025 TMD charter, skaters are encouraged to participate in both tryouts, but are required to participate fully in at least one. No video submissions or previous skating experience will be accepted in lieu of attendance.
What to expect at tryouts:
-Basic skills warmup
-Drills
--1v1 blocking
--2v1 blocking
--3v1 with offense
-Scrimmage
-Feedback will not be provided at tryouts due to the anticipated volume of assessed skaters
How to succeed as a TMD skater:
-You will be more successful if you can be proficient in more than one role on the track
-You will be more successful if you cross-train once a week outside of derby
-You will be a team player who will support fellow teammates on and off the track
-You will be communicative and able to make effective strategic calls in real time
-You will be goal oriented with a drive to learn and improve
Team Maryland's commitment to you:

-Expectations for gameplay at tournaments will be communicated prior to the event
-Ability to broaden knowledge of derby strategy and abilities
-Monthly practices (Is your league willing to host? Let us know!)
-High level of competition and play
-Opportunities to play against unfamiliar (non-local/international) skaters
-Constructive coaching feedback quarterly to facilitate growth
$10 monthly dues in lieu tournament fees and practice fees
