Pflugerville Public Library invites teens to submit a piece of original writing for the 2025 Teen 2 Sentence Horror Story Contest. Submitted entries will be displayed in the Library and posted on the Library’s social media pages and prizes will be awarded for 1st and 2nd and 3rd place.Eligibility
Anyone ages 12-18 with a Pflugerville Public Library card may enter. Limit one entry per contestant; one writer per entry.
Submission Guidelines
Entries must be the original work of the entrants. Copyrighted and A.I. material may not be used. Stories previously submitted for Pflugerville Library contests will not be accepted.
Stories submitted must be appropriate for viewing by all ages of the general public. Stories that are of an overtly sexual, racist, violent, libelous, slanderous, demoralizing, or discriminatory nature are strictly prohibited.
Follow the following guidelines when writing and formatting your story:
2 Sentences maximum
Include a title for your story
Font: Aptos or Arial
Size: 12pt
Line spacing: 1.5
Save as a .doc

Entries must be submitted electronically.
Email entries to [email protected].
The email subject line must say: Teen 2 Sentence Horror Story
The body of the email should include your: full name, age, library card number, phone number, and the title of your work.
Entries may be submitted from September 29th , 2025 through October 13th, 2025
Judging
The winning short stories will be selected by the Teen Advisory Group.
The winners will be announced October 15th, 2023 ; 1st place will receive a $50 gift card to Barnes and Noble, 2nd place will receive a $30 gift card to Barnes and Noble, and 3rd place will receive a $20 gift card to Barnes and Noble courtesy of the Friends of the Pflugerville Library. Entries will be displayed in the Teen Space through the end of October 2025. The winning entries will also be announced on the Library’s Facebook page and other city media outlets.
