Join us for the 2025 Sydney Peace Prize Award Ceremony and Lecture as we honour our recipient Judge Navi Pillay — renowned international jurist and former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
For decades Judge Pillay has stood fearlessly on the frontlines of justice — from the Rwandan genocide tribunals to the struggle against apartheid in South Africa from advancing women’s rights worldwide to challenging impunity for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Her voice has shaped international law and inspired movements for human dignity across the globe. Learn more about our recipient here. 
This year’s Sydney Town Hall stage will come alive with Judge Pillay in conversation with a distinguished panel including Chris Sidoti leading human rights law expert and former Australian Human Rights Commissioner alongside other eminent voices soon to be announced. Guiding the discussion will be Nour Haydar senior producer at The Guardian.

About the Sydney Peace Foundation
For 28 years the Sydney Peace Foundation has awarded the Sydney Peace Prize Australia’s only international prize for peace celebrating individuals and movements who have shown extraordinary courage in the pursuit of justice.
Laureates have included global icons such as Noam Chomsky Mary Robinson Arundhati Roy Patrick Dodson Naomi Klein the Uluru Statement from the Heart and the #MeToo movement. Each recipient has been celebrated for challenging oppression in their own sphere. From grassroots activism and Indigenous leadership to international law literature journalism and global movements our laureates inspire change advance human rights and encourage peace with justice.
Through awarding the Prize the Foundation has brought some of the most urgent struggles of our time into the spotlight encouraging dialogue action and hope.
