Entry Fees:
$29 for first event, $26 for each additional event.

With valid group discount (10 people or more but less than 25), all events will have a flat $24 rate. One person from each group must email a list of all group members to [email protected] and [email protected] by the registration deadline (04/25/25). Group members must sign up under group name on Tournament Software (this is the information you put in “club”). Members must be on the list to receive a group discount.
We will be collecting tournament fees on the day of the tournament at the front desk. We will not allow you to play if your fees have not been paid!

Prizes:
Trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners for each B,C,D, and E events. Consolation trophies will also be awarded to the consolation winner of all flights. Prize money will be awarded to 1st and 2nd place of all A-level flights. Prize money will be dependent on the number of entrees. Trophies will be awarded to A flight 3rd place and consolation winners.

BIRDS:
Players must provide their own birds. Feathers shuttles must be used. Yonex AS 30 will be provided to all A flight players.

Regulations:
1. The tournament will be conducted in accordance with applicable BWF and USAB rules.
2. Events may be combined, played round robin format or canceled for each applicable event if not enough entries are received.
3. Consolation draws will be held for each applicable event.
4. Main round matches will be played in the best 2 of 3 games using the BWF Rally Point Scoring System.
5. Consolation matches will be one game to 21 except for Finals, which will be best 2 out of 3.
6. Participants will not be allowed to start their first match until all fees are paid.
7. A strict five minutes default rule will be enforced. A player not ready to play five minutes after his/her match is called will be forfeit by default.
8. On court warm-ups are restricted to 2 minutes.
9. Each player in a doubles partnership must submit separate entry forms. Incomplete partnerships will not be guaranteed a spot in the draws.
10. *NO SANDBAGGING* We have the right to alter your events if we feel like you do not fit in the appropriate flights. Players who make it to the Semis of the higher flight may be disqualified from the lower flight.
11. Teams must play in the flight of the higher ranked player. Multiple partners ARE allowed.
12. 2 flights maximum per event. No jump flight. (For example, you may play B Women's Doubles (BWD), B Mixed Doubles (BMX), and C Mixed Doubles (CMX). You MAY NOT play BWD, BMX, and DWD.)
13. Please use your REAL NAME and E-MAIL ADDRESS when signing up. (Confirmation e-mails for entries will be sent out)
14. Rest time is limited to 15 minutes There will be no lunch break.
15. No food is allowed within the Spartan Complex.
16. The Tournament Directors reserves the right to change any of the above conditions and/or add new regulations as they see fit.

WAIVER:
BY SUBMITTING AN ONLINE ENTRY TO THE 2025 SJSU Spring SMASHOFF, PARTICIPANT AFFIRMS HAVING READ AND AGREE TO ABIDE BY THIS AGREEMENT IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TOURNAMENT.
IN CONSIDERATION for my involvement in the 2025 SJSU Spring Smashoff, I acknowledge, appreciate and agree that:
1. I risk bodily injury, including paralysis, dismemberment disability and death, and while particular rules of the sport, equipment, and discipline may reduce this risk, this risk of injury does exist, as well as the risk of damage to or loss of property.
2. I willingly agree to comply with the stated and customary terms and conditions for participation. If, however, I observe any unusual or unnecessary hazard during my presence or participation or if I observe any concern in my readiness for participation, I will immediately bring such to the attention of the nearest official and refrain from participation.
3. I, for myself, and on behalf of my heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin, hereby release, hold harmless and promise not to sue the 2025 SJSU Spring Smashoff, their officers, volunteers, staff, sponsors, sanctioning organizations, and/or agents, (“releasees”) with respect to any and all injury and loss arising from my participation, whether caused by the negligence of the releases, the condition of the premises or otherwise, except that which is the result of gross negligence or wanton misconduct to the fullest extent permitted by law.
4. I knowingly and freely assume all risk, both known and unknown, even if arising from the negligence of the releases or others.
5. I agree to be bound by the rules and regulations of the SJSU Spartan Complex Gym and I hereby stipulate that I am eligible to play in the events for which I am applying and that I understand that the above mentioned make no representation or warranty with respect to the condition of the premises or the operation of event.
6. I, hereby grant to SJSU, its licensees and contractors including photographers, televisions, and motion picture companies, their affiliates and subsidiaries, full television and motion picture rights including authority to film or videotape me during matches, narratives, personal interviews, or comment thereon for any and all commercial, news or other purposes together with the right to transfer or grant their rights to others, all without remuneration or compensation to me whatsoever.
I have read this Release of Liability and Waiver Agreement, fully understand its terms, understand that I have given up substantial rights by agreeing to abide by it, and to do so freely and voluntarily.

FOR PARTICIPANTS OF MINORITY AGE

By allowing the online entry and participation in the 2025 SJSU Spring Smashoff, I/We as parent(s)/guardian(s) with legal responsibility of the participant agreeing to abide by this Agreement, do consent and agree not only to his/her release, but also for myself/ourselves, and my/ours heirs, assigns and next of kin to release and indemnity the Releases from any and all liability incident to my/our child’s involvement as stated above, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASES, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
