About the Event
Santa’s Little Hackers is a seasonal toy drive that adapts electronic toys to make them accessible for individuals with disabilities. These adaptations help children and adults play independently and experience the joy of inclusion during the holidays.
Santa’s Little Hackers is organized by MaxMods, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to “making the world accessible for all” by developing adaptations and modifications that remove barriers for people living with disabilities.
Join us for our 12th annual toy making event and be part of the magic that brings accessible play to families around the world!
Volunteer Details
We need volunteers ages 14 and older to help adapt toys for the holiday season.
Experience with soldering, basic hand tools, or simple stitching is helpful—but not required! Everyone who wants to participate will have an important role.
Tasks include:
- Soldering / Adapting: Modifying toys with solder or connectors
- Disassembly / Assembly: Taking toys apart and reassembling
- Packaging: Preparing toys for shipping
- Sewing: Repairing seams after adaptation
- Quality Control: Testing toys for functionality
- General Help: Supporting various tasks to spread joy
Important Notes
- Tickets are required to help manage volunteer numbers (register on Eventbrite).
- Not a child-friendly event. Youth ages 14–18 may volunteer with a signed parental waiver.
- Signed liability waivers are required for all participants.
- Feel free to bring your own soldering tools, though all necessary equipment will be available on-site.
- Donuts and coffee in the morning, and lunch provided.
- If you can’t attend, please cancel your ticket on Eventbrite so another volunteer can join.
- One registration per person, please.
