Hello to all you Sixers out there! I'm sorry we've been so silent lately, we have not forgot about you. The annual River to River Retro Road Trip is on and here is all the information you'll need to come along. It looks like a lot but I promise you it isn't. 2025 River to River Itinerary
Dates again are Friday September 19th and Saturday September 20th
We will not be doing a Thursday evening pre-event
Cost for the event is still $20
We will have shirts $20 for SM-XL and $25 2XL-3XL.
Please note the route instructions for Iowa City and Des Moines/ Beaverdale.
This is a rain or shine event. Weather has been a little odd as of late so keep an eye as we get closer and plan for anything.

Friday September 19th
0700-0815- Sign in and meet up at Modern Woodman Park
0815-0830 driver meeting
0830- depart Davenport (Davenport West Sports Complex regroup. 5908 W Kimberly Rd, Davenport, IA 52806)
1000- Arrive at Iowa City
Follow Historic 6 (Burlington Street) to Gilbert Street
Turn right on to Gilbert Street
Take Gilbert St. 3 blocks to Iowa Ave
Left on Iowa Ave. The Old Capital will be in front of you.
There is a parking ramp off Iowa. Street parking as available with parking meters. You can also turn left at Iowa and Clinton and go down to the ramp at the corner of Burlington and Clinton. Parking in the ramps is $1 an hour and easiest way out is with a credit/debit card. Either way there will be some walking so wear comfortable shoes.
This is a self-guided tour of The Old Capitol Museum and The Natural History Museum next door. The cost is free, but donations are accepted and please sign the guest books. You should be able to see most of them in about an hour and a half. There are restrooms on the lower levels of both buildings and elevators or lifts in both buildings if needed. We will meet in the Quad in front of The Old Capitol on the Clinton Street side of the building then head in.
This is also our lunch stop for the day. So, after exploring the Museums feel free to get something in the downtown Iowa City area or continue west on Historic 6 into Coralville or Tiffin. There are a lot of restaurants both local and chain to choose from. (see places of interest page for suggestions)
1:00 pm meet up at the Tiffin Soccer complex (east side of the road at the round-a-bout 105 S Park Rd, Tiffin, IA 52340)
1:30pm Leave towards Grinnell
2:30 pm Stop at the NEW Grinnell Historical Museum 703 1st Ave Grinnell
Take Historic 6 to Main Street in Grinnell
Turn Left and take Main Street about 4 blocks south to 2nd Ave
Turn Right on 2nd ave then left into the alley next to the bank. Parking will be tight and most likely in the field behind the museum.
4:00 pm leave towards Beaverdale
From Hwy 6 in Altoona, Left on Hubbell from Broadway, Hubbell to Euclid. Right onto Euclid, Euclid to Martin Luther King Jr Pkwy. Left onto MLK, MLK to Hickman. Right onto Hickman. Hickman to Beaver Ave. Right onto Beaver to the Festival.
5:00ish Arrive at Beaverdale for the Beaverdale Fall Festival. Enter from Hickman and Beaver Road (let the Security know you are with the River-to-River group)
Saturday September 20th
8:30- 9:00 am- Meet at the Living History Farms 11121 Hickman Rd, Urbandale, IA 50322
9:00-11:00 tour the Living History Farms. $20 admission. There are 2 parts, Farm and Town. Each takes about 2 hours, so you will probably only be able to see one or the other, but you can always come back another time and see the rest.
11:30 depart to the west. Lunch will be on your own. There are several places to stop along the way.
It takes about 2 hours to get from Living History Farms to Oakland, so that should give you 2 hours to stop and eat and see some of the sites along Historic 6 and the White Pole Road.

3:30 Meet at The Freedom Rock in Oakland (309 S Chautauqua Ave, Oakland, IA 51560)
4:00 pm Head to the 100 block of Broadway in Council Bluffs for their car show.
