The Polk County Democratic Party proudly welcomes you to the 2025 Steak Fry on Saturday, September 13th at our NEW location within Water Works Park at the Des Moines Biergarten!
This year, we are thrilled to welcome U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen! Chris Van Hollen was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2016 after serving Maryland for over a decade in the U.S. House of Representatives and earlier in the Maryland State Legislature. Throughout his career, he has been a tireless advocate for equal rights, justice, and opportunity, fighting to create good jobs, strengthen small businesses, and expand access to education and job training for all.
In Congress, Senator Van Hollen has defended Social Security and Medicare, worked across party lines to protect the Chesapeake Bay, expand medical research, fight childhood cancer, and pass the ABLE Act to help families with children with disabilities. He is known for tackling tough issues like growing economic inequality with practical, results-oriented solutions.
Senator Van Hollen is a graduate of Swarthmore College, Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, and Georgetown Law. He lives in Maryland with his wife, Katherine, and they are the proud parents of three children, Anna, Nicholas, and Alexander.
In addition to Senator Van Hollen, you can look forward to hearing from our slate of candidates running for US Senate, US Representative for 3rd District, Governor, AG & Secretary of State.
Gates open at 11:00 AM, with meal service starting at 12:00 PM and the program kicking off at 1:00 PM.
Individual tickets are just $40. This year's event will be catered by Orchestrate Hospitality, offering steak, chicken, or a vegan option with sides. Kids 12 and under eat for free.

Friend ($100): Includes one meal, recognition at the event
Supporter ($250): Includes two meals, recognition at the event
Sponsor ($500): Includes up to four meals, recognition at the event
Host ($1,000): Includes up to six meals, recognition at the event
Defender ($2,500): Includes up to 12 meals, recognition at the event
Champion ($5,000): Includes up to 15 meals, recognition at the event
