Pitch Your Session through January 3
Our general themes include community-centered news and information; access to public records and open government; transparency and public institutions; collaboration; sustainability; and diversity, equity and inclusion. This year, we'll feature the lessons we've learned in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene and the efforts by Western NC journalists at our keynote opening.
Sessions throughout the daylong Summit are led by our community of participants. They may include hands-on training, brainstorms, facilitated discussions, presentations or participatory workshops.
To pitch a session, fill out this form for priority consideration by Friday, Jan. 3. We'll be in touch in early January on the status of your session. Don't worry if you don't have all the details finalized just yet. We're most interested in learning about your proposed topic and purpose. We'll help you finalize the description and format once selected.
Stipends
In 2025, we will prioritize stipends for media professionals from Western North Carolina communities affected by Hurrican Helene. These stipends are contingent upon sponsor support, but we anticipate being able to provide full stipends (travel, lodging, registration) for a limited number of WNC journalists.
In addition, we may also be able to provide partial stipends to other deserving professionals. If you would like to be considered for funding assistance for travel, please reach out to Shannan Bowen at [email protected] or Pate McMichael at [email protected].
