The Orlando Alumni Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated and its I.S. Hankins/F.A. Johnson Education Foundation are preparing for the 39th Annual MLK Commemorative Luncheon and 21st Annual MLK Leadership Forum and hope you are able to attend! Join Fraternity members and the Orlando Mayor’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission to celebrate what would be Dr. King’s 95th birthday.
The theme for this year’s Luncheon and Forum is:
“Empowering The Next Generation: Justice, Education, And Leadership”
At the Luncheon, community leaders and organizations will be recognized for their contributions to the community with the prestigious DRUM MAJOR AWARD! Categories are Scholarship (student), Civic Affairs, Social Justice, Community Service and Business. Proceeds from this event provide college scholarships to local students, fund the Young Men of Distinction mentoring program and provide support to other educational initiatives of the Foundation.
O UR KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Marc Morial, one of the few national leaders to possess “street smarts,” and “boardroom savvy,” is the transformative President and CEO of the National Urban League, the nation’s largest historic civil rights and urban advocacy organization.
He served as the highly successful and popular Mayor of New Orleans as well as the President of the U.S. Conference of Mayors. Marc previously was a Louisiana State Senator and was a lawyer in New Orleans with an active, high-profile practice.
He is a leading voice on the national stage in the battle for jobs, education, housing, health, voting rights, equity, and entrepreneurship.
