We are a group of artists who've aways loved doing Mayday, one of many such groups, hosting open workshops to make it easier for our neighbors and friends to be involved this year! For more b build locations near you check the Mayday website here... https://www.maydaympls.org/
...or start your own group and let them know you'd love to join the parade!

Like last year, all are welcome to whom the Minneapolis Mayday tradition has been dear in some way, Fire Station 24 (home of Adventures in Cardboard) will open its doors to all friends of Mayday to make whatever they want for the any of the festivities that might be taking place on the first Sunday of May - the traditional date for Minneapolis’ beloved celebration of community, renewal and resistance.
Come on by during the two weeks before May 4th for a community art build. We’ll have the basics onsite: cardboard, staples, tape, a little paint, maybe a little lumber and some power tools... anything else including things like extensive amounts of lumber, textiles or other fancier items you are welcome to bring yourself.
WE ARE NOT TAKING DONATIONS THIS YEAR!
These workshops won’t be formally staffed by artists, but there will always be a few experienced builders around you can ask for advice from. Make something to wear in the parade or just swing by to meet new people or see if you can find familiar faces. Or come by and serenade us! The point is to be in community in a creative, celebratory way cause half the fun for many of us was having the entire month of April getting there!
A few basics:
-All are welcome and the workshops are free and open.
-This is for people who have a love and connection to Minneapolis Mayday or want to build that connection or renew that connection. Come in the spirit of Mayday celebration, creation and community giving.
-We will NOT be taking $$$ or donations of any kind!
-This is not an Adventures in Cardboard event and there won’t be staff present to watch children. That said kiddos are certainly welcome as they always have been, just please be prepared to be in community with your kids.
-Projects can be stored onsite only if there’s room left. Be prepared to take things home if need be, we may or may not run out of space.
-You’ll have to transport your own projects to events and parades on May 4th. We all meet up with the Southside Battle Train between 26th and 28th street on Bloomington on May 4th around 10 or 11am. You're welcome to join us.
-Help us keep the place organized by keeping your own workspaces tidy and cleaning up after yourself as you go.
