About this Event
Total Lunar Eclipse Viewing at Heide Observatory
On the early morning of March 14, the Moon will pass into Earth's shadow, turning a striking red during a total lunar eclipse. This celestial event occurs when the Sun, Earth, and Moon align perfectly, causing the Moon to move into Earth’s umbra—the darkest part of its shadow. As a result, the Moon takes on a deep red-orange hue, often referred to as a "Blood Moon."
If you’re an early riser, join us for this special pop-up event at Heide Observatory! Alongside the eclipse, you'll have the opportunity to observe planets and other incredible night sky objects through our 17-inch telescope.
Reservations & Event Details
Reservations are donation-based and are made one at a time with the Eventbrite site. You can do just one tranaction, after which, email us at [email protected] with the number of people in your party.

Weather & Cancellations
Please remember that March nights are still quite cold, so dress accordingly. If the sky is overcast or rainy, the event will be canceled, as we won’t be able to see the Moon. An email notification will be sent out if cancellation is necessary.
