2025 KC Air Guitar Championships

Welcome to the 2025 KC Air Guitar Championships! Competitors will rock their hardest to become the 2025 Kansas City Air Guitar Champion. The winner will move on to Nationals in San Francisco, CA!

Competitive air guitar is real. And it's spectacul-AIR. Featured on ESPN's The Ocho, Vice, 90 Second Docs, "Air Guitar Nation", "Catching Air", and a play called "Airness". Air Guitar is something that everyone does, but these brave competitors will do it on stage to prove who can BRING THE MOST ROCK! They will be judged in 3 categories: Stage Presence; do they command the stage and the audience, Technical Merit; does it look like they're playing a guitar, and Airness; the undefinable "je ne sais quoi" you know when you see it.

In the first round each player performs to their own 1 minute track. The top 5 scores then move on to round 2 where they compete to a surprise compulsory track, improvising after only hearing it once. After the scores from both rounds are combined, the winner is crowned 2025 Kansas City Air Guitar champion representing our fair city at the US National Championship! The winner of nationals will be sent as the representative of the United States to compete in the Air Guitar World Championship in Oulu, Finland. Kansas City is the home of last year's US National Champion Cole "Slappy Nutz" Lindbergh! Can Kansas City do it again? Come to The Brick on May 31st and see.
